The roses are blooming on the gable while our love dies
Two years ago, our love was full blooming how time flies
As we drifted away from friends they were often amused
Now they are asking what happened and they are all confused
They said I was the stronger and you the maiden fair
The chosen couple of the group a very loving pair
You were the new artist and painted fields and flowers
And we ran and splashed barefooted through summer showers
Your parents never worried for us and neither did mine
There were clouds on the horizon not all just sunshine
you somehow lost interest as if you no longer cared
As if the love we once had was being rather spared
Things were no longer the same so alone I often mused
Without an answer from you I was often confused
Then a date with you was cancelled when at nine you phoned
We found you later alone on a bench and you were stoned
You said your older brother gave you your fathers old pills
That he had taken one or two and they gave him thrills
You were so far gone to the hospital you were rushed
And so full of pain killers your stomach had to be flushed
You admitted you had been popping daily for weeks
Which probably accounted for your valleys and peaks
All this drama and deceit has left my heart deflated
And any promises I made are all now vacated
