I often traveled to New York City for the parade
But I wouldn't dream of going there now I am too afraid
With masks on all their faces and plastic gloves on their hands
With practically nothing open it's hard to make plans
No factory to go to work in and no more workplace
And everyone must try to live in their own little space
If reality will reappear no one can forecast
There is nothing to cheer about on the daily newscast.
There is way too much finger pointing laying off the blame
It's already April yet not even one baseball game
Why New York is hit so hard is surely a mystery
The greatest epidemic in recorded history
We have so called specialists with all kinds of expertise
Still a little parasite has brought us all to our knees
yet the irony is we can not go to church to pray
it was to end in April now it could be late in May
When I'm looking out the window the sun outside still shines
And for the birds and the animals there are no confines
Outside I still feel the sun's heat for the growing season
Hope springs eternal that we can beat back this demon
So maybe too this curve they talk about will soon flatten
And the old life we once knew will return to Manhattan
