We all would love to go back once more

We all would love to go back once more
To our old home with the open door
A sign of welcome with no bell or lock
All you had to do was say ‘hello ‘or knock
You know very well that after being greeted
At the kitchen table, you’d be seated
With a big cup of tea and bread and jam
And all kinds of apologies for the lack of ham
That’s one more dream I will never fulfill
They tore down the house at the foot of the hill.
