You don’t need to go to the Zoo; it’s a jungle out there.
And most people can’t tell a RABBIT from a HARE
So you eloped as a bit of a LARK
And ran away with a LION CHEETAH in the dark
In the beginning she was FOXy and perky
But she had picked you out to be her TURKEY
She was intent on ROBIN you
And you never even GNU
Her eyelids fluttered like BUTTERFIES wings
But you also found like a BEE she stings
Being as timid as a FAWN was not her culture
She could be as vicious as a SHARK or VULTURE
At first she was only GROUSEing slightly
Now she acts like a SKUNK or WOLF nightly
Like a RHINO in this misery you wallowed
And her lies and BULL you quickly SWALLOWed
The constant whining makes you think she’s CUCKOO
And she keeps her money in her pocket like a mother KANGAROO
The grumbling reminds you of a JACKDAW or CROW
Or maybe a black RAVEN so beloved by Mr. Poe
Long gone are the days when she cooed like a DOVE
She is like nasty CAT whom you no longer love
Sometimes you feel like a ROOSTER who’s been plucked
Other times she threw things and you DUCKed
You can’t BEAR to admit you were wrong
And acted like a SHEEP instead of being strong
You were treated like a BOA would a MOUSE
It was more like a TIGER than a DEER in your house
You acted like a GIRRAFFE with your head above the fray
Or like an OSTRICH buried it in sand or clay
You know your GOOSE is cooked and your eyes are blurred
It’s time to get rid of this MOCKINGBIRD
An ZEBRA will not lose stripe nor a LEOPARD lose his spots
And a CROCODILE will pull you under until your brain rots
