When you buy your food do you read what’s added?
Do you think that the price might be slightly padded?
When you buy regular beer do you think it is malt?
Do you know if they add sugar do you know if they add salt?
Do they add dye in case your food would look faded?
And say its better so you’ll think it has been upgraded
If you read the panel there must be forty things in your bread
And fifty more in margarine if that’s what you spread
Is your loaf made of bran and wheat or white flour bleached?
Do you think a baker doing that should be impeached?
What kind of growth material are they feeding to the cattle?
On all the green fields between New York and Seattle
You can bet they are feeding more than grass to the cows
They fill them up with all hormones the Government allows
If she saw the finished milk in the store she’d feel inadequate
And be very surprised how far away was the sell by date
Do you think there are all peanuts in your Peanut Butter?
Where do you think drug dealers learned to add a “cutter”?
If you wanted to count salt content you’d need pen and jotter
Do you know the once proud chicken now had added water?
All growing fruit must be peeled because it is often sprayed
And if you check the label daily there’s no fruit in lemonade
But you can depend on a cup of black tea that is decaffeinated
Oh, Oh, wait a moment the tap water might be chlorinated
