Colleen  at McGraths © Tony Fallon 080617

She has the face of an angel and her name is Colleen
She works in a bar once owned by her granny Kathleen
It’s McGraths in East Durham in the County of Greene
And this year it will be open until the week of Halloween

There are many bars in East Durham but this one has an Irish feel
There’s music the drink is not expensive and the location is ideal
And if you want sausages and bacon you’ll get a great morning meal
And there’s plenty of room in the back to park your automobile

I’ve never tried it myself but they say their pint is the best
You don’t have to be in your finest you can come casually dressed
It’s a great place to hang out customers and staff is never stressed
Your sports religious and political opinions can be freely expressed

Dermot is in charge of everything each and every night
He has to make sure all the bills are paid especially for electric light
He has to make sure everybody is happy and no one is uptight
And he may have to refuse the one or two who are looking for a fight

It’s a shame that Greene County always seems to have a recession
With employment so scarce it causes all kinds of daily depression
While McGraths can cheer us all up with an Irish Arts session
Where are all the tourists this year that is the major question.

We should have one more festival to pick an Irish American Queen
And have Padraig Allen and his band that plays down on Mc Lean
Bring in channel 13 from Albany and have all the girls on the screen
Have a Roscommon man as the host and pick the winner by voting machine

But I have to come back to Colleen she can cast you under  her spell
She has charm and personality there is nothing she could not sell
She is a student in New Paltz college where I know she will excel
I’d love if she’d stay the winter but she’s going back to New Rochelle
