When you
woke up this morning was the TV still on?
How long was
it before you realized that I was gone?
I bet you
found the note that said “it’s not working”
Before the
toast popped or your coffee started perking
When you
opened up the freezer you must have been delighted
There was
ice in the top and the bulb was lighted
The note was
not about the freezer but about our love affair
Which was supposed
to be for life, but is now beyond repair
You’re always
so busy talking you just never pays attention
So our
relationship is over, over, over it is not in suspension
I somehow get
the awful feeling you were unaware
That our relationship
was just not going anywhere.
You can
never say I was hard to please or very demanding
And when you
had your bad days I was always understanding
Coming so soon
after the holidays this break up will upset
Yet the many
great days we had together we will not soon forget
