The Cold Snap © Tony Fallon

I pity anybody out there in
the cold
It doesn’t matter whether
young or old
It begins to matter below the
freezing point
When the cold seeps in to
every joint
How our ancestors did survive
those cold snaps?
With doors and windows full
of cracks and gaps
You need to cover up your
ears and nose
And have very warm socks on
your toes
This is the ideal time to
catch the flu
You should be drinking soup
or warm brew
They say if you’re shoveling
snow tonight
Within five minutes you could
get frostbite
I know it’s hard to worry
about Global warming
When icicles on your mustache
are forming
So if you are outside and
feeling woozy
Come inside and jump into the
Jacuzzi
