In October 2017 the weather was unusually mild
And I wrote this poem.
If you do not believe in Global Warming

Speak to someone who is engaged in farming
Here is a remark that should make you sober
They are saving hay up here in October
For home heating oil there has been no cost
It has not been cold enough even for frost
On the local lake there are still a few swans
And I have not even thought of my long john's
There are still so many green leaves on the trees
Temperatures are often above 70 degrees.
While the weather here is unusually warm
Over in Europe they are awaiting a storm
with winds that are far in excess of a breeze
potential coastal flooding and many falling trees
are we human lemmings headed for disaster?.
Meanwhile the polar cap keeps melting faster
Nonetheless we have doubters or they are vague
In poor countries they often have hunger and plague
So many hurricanes we are running out of names
Forests all over the word are going up in flames
Global Warming is often considered a fake doom
Will they believe if the ocean floods their living room?

Some leaders are not doing much more than thumb twiddling
While the world is stumbling they are like Nero fiddling
Laying blame on everybody else they are adroit
All problems of the world are not the fault of Detroit.
