The Road less traveled © Tony Fallon.2017

The road not often taken is usually in the hills
It rarely is very wide and is devoid of frills
There usually are pot holes a real tormentor
With no lines on the side no line in the center
There are very few signs and definitely no lights
You wouldn’t enjoy driving here on weekend nights
While you are hoping that your car won’t lose power
You’ll meet someone doing a hundred miles an hour
In an old beat up pick up that should be on blocks
Probably has no brakes probably has no shocks
There is a cloud of dust ahead you almost have to stop
This is a gravel road with no sign of blacktop.
Signs on many trees gave the land a privacy classification
So if you stop to have a pee or anything else you’d be in violation
A deer crossing in front causes great distraction
You are going up a mountain so there’s plenty of traction
If the road was wider you’d definitely turn around
But if you slid into the lake you could get drowned
You finally get to turn around this is enough strife
It’s the last time on the road less traveled for the rest of your life.
