All Ireland
Day 2017© Tony Fallon917
Today in
Dublin it’s all Ireland Day
And I’m in
New York far, far away
Listening to
the game on my PC
Waiting for
the throw in by the referee
My thoughts
go back to my native land
And days
that I was in the Hogan Stand
Like a
September Sunday in sixty five
When I saw
both of the hurling finals live
By the
football final I was in New York
Up early
every morning looking for work
There was no
way you could tear me away
From my
first final on the radio in the USA
I know my
allegiance has been transferred
But I want
Mayo to win this my fifty third
Maybe next
year at the airport I’ll disembark
And see the
first August final in Croke Park.
