A thing we take for granted in Greene
County’s Cairo town
Will pass into history another memory
tumbling down
No more he’ll walk the streets of
Cairo on his daily hike
‘Cause Jeff went and bought Tony
Fallon’s three wheel bike
He’ll be going much faster now no
more he’ll need his stick
If he’s coming down the street you’ll
have to move real quick
From all the walking all those years
his legs have great power
He could be coming at you at more
than thirty miles per hour
And he might put on an engine if
there is not vibration
The tires will not be blown up to their
maximum inflation
That will give him better traction in
the rain and snows
And will leave no tell tale marks if
he runs across your nose
There will be people taking picture
others using telescopes
And teen agers on skateboards being
pulled along by ropes
His circle of travel daily will now
be greatly expanded
He will carry a repair kit and tools
so will ne’er be stranded
There will be children waving wildly
from many passing cars
And he’ll be treated like a celebrity
in East Durham’s Irish bars
Can you imagine all the confusion and
mix-up he will cause?
If he goes to Kingston in May they’ll
think he’s Santa Clause
For his transportation to the
supermarket there is no daily cost
And neither is there smog or smoke
coming from an exhaust
So if you see Jeff out there pedaling
by night or early morn
Just wave to him as you pass by, but
do not blow your horn.
